Why is it that this campus keeps getting more added on to it? Did we really need a College of Pharmacy? I've been told that there are already too many pharmacy majors in the country as is, so why add another school that can teach them?
Secondly, and I'm sure this one will get to the art majors, Burton was suppose to go to the Art Department, but at the last minute, new plans were made and the College of Pharmacy was created and now the Art Dept. has to stay in its run down hole under Sewell and the portables.
Third, With all the money being spent on construction, one would think that Lipscomb could afford to touch up places that need it before actually building a whole new structure. Take both the basements of Sewell and Elam. Now Sewell's basement is partially being restructured, but not the Art Dept. half. It is virtually falling apart at this very moment. The same goes for the Foreign Language Dept. under Elam. The ceiling tiles are old and slowly coming down. In some places there are no tiles at all. The Dept. itself wants a storage closet but has been turned down saying there is no money for it!!! So, what about all that money that HAD to be spent last Spring to paint the swings according to Dr. Lowery? Another building that desperately needs repairs is McFarland. While the school is proud of the Engineering Dept., it doesn't seem to care that the facilities is in terrible condition. The same goes for the whole building. Much of the equipment is outdated and obsolete and sometimes it could be dangerous just walking into a classroom if you didn't know what was going on (which should never be the case).
I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe Lipscomb should be focusing on fixing what problems there already were before starting new projects that will create new problems later on to stack up over the old ones.
