just a thought on arlo's, i was really disappointed. it was a nice theory...giving students a place they can go and chill, but i personally can't stand it. it's noisy and has a pretentious feel to it. plus, the bike furniture sucks. i rarely go down there unless i have the occasional urge to play a wii. as for the rest of the downstairs, it seems like more of the same. i thought the whole idea for the remodeling was to give the space back to the students. the "tv area" is terribly laid out. people rarely watch tv down there, but when they do, you seem to always be faced with the dilemma of rudely walking in front of the tv or awkwardly walking around the entire setup. and how about getting some comfortable furniture? the stuff we have (both up and downstairs) is awful. the chairs are uncomfortable and the table space is tiny. (anyone remember the big fluffy couches we had by jazzman's?) we should've kept the ping pong and pool tables and the movie room. the laser tag was fun, though rarely utilized. i also would've like a full computer lab rather than the two that are set up to only run internet explorer. all suggestions that were made and then promptly ignored. i really think there are a lot better ways we could've used this space than what we now have. the new offices are nice, but that's one of the few bright spots to the whole thing. any chance the powers that be will listen to what the students want next time they decide to drop a couple hundred grand? i doubt it. they're too busy trying to figure out what will look best to potential donors (pronounced "future assets") or potential students (also pronounced "future assets") to worry about the opinions of current students ("liabilities"). any feelings (agreeing or dissenting) on this issue?
